For awhile now i've had a can of chalkboard paint just sitting in the kitchen we had said it would be cool to paint one of the sides of our cabinets. For months it just sat there, I got a wild hair yesterday to go ahead and get it done so I turned on the Elvis Pandora station and got busy. I love how it turned out. It's got so much more room than my little one that I made out of a
cabinet door(DIY tutorial here). Would you ever do an entire side of a cabinet or even an entire wall with chalkboard paint? I kind of freaked out as soon as I got done because it was just so much black and really popped and every time I walked past the kitchen I kept thinking our garage door was open just at a glance haha! Now that there is chalk on it though it's much better. However, i'm thinking about framing it in with some chunky trim and make it look like a big picture frame, what do you think?

| All cleaned and ready to go |
| I taped it off |
| Freaked out when I saw how horrible the first coat went on. I thought "Oh, crap! I did something wrong!!" |
| So I went outside to read and relax while I waited for it to dry. I figured this was better than sitting there looking at the mess. |
| 2nd coat..not quiet as horrible. Still a little bit of "what the hell have I dont to my beautiful white cabinet" haha! |
| Took the tape off....Liking it now! |

So there it is, not bad for a little 15 dollar project. My husband said "it's unique, it looks like a young kitchen now." He has this complex that i've decorated in a way an old lady would have, psh! He's always saying "We need some color in here, make it young and fun"......I just need to hire someone to come "young-ify" our home. I'm loving it--we aren't really having pizza for lunch today, it's just the first thing that came to mind to write on there haha!

Oooooh I LOVE it! How fun! We don't own our home so I can't make a chalkboard out of our cabinets, but I'm dying to find a mirror with an amazing frame that I can turn into a chalkboard! Unfortunately this tiny town has zero shopping possibilities :)
ReplyDeleteThat will be so cute! You'll have to post it if you do it! I made one out of a cabinet door --if you find any of those lying around! :)
