| This is from right when I finished them, they are pretty wrinkled but a month later they have unwrinkled. |
What you will need:
-Painters tape
-Measuring tape
-Pen
-Paint
-Curtains
-Roller
My husband helped me tape it off. Since my curtains were 84" we made the stripes 7" *Dont forget to account for the thickness of the tape into your stripes, this is why some of the lines are wider. Also you will need to decide if you want the top stripe painted or not. We decided to paint it. We just liked that look better, but you can do it either way!
Now that you are all taped off you are ready to paint!! (I didn't take a picture early enough of just taping it off)
I used regular wall paint from Lowes, Valspar in Khaki. Also use a thin roller. It goes on a lot easier and doesn't collect too much extra paint. The curtains will absorb the paint really quickly. For me I noticed after I hung them that a few spots needed extra paint, you can just touch it up. But just know it may not be perfect your first try, but dont worry--they will still look great! When you do get finished painting pull the tape off immediately and cross your fingers for a crisp line ;) I think that was the part that had me the most nervous. I was so worried all that hard work was going to be a mess under the tape, but sure enough when I pulled the tape off it was crisp, clean lines!
I waited a day for them to dry and hung them up as quickly as I could. I love love love the way they turned out! I'd like to do another set of them. I think they would be fun to do in stencils or maybe even a chevron print. The options are really endless. Also if you cant handle the wrinkles, iron it before hand or use a steamer if you really can't stand it! I hope you take the time to try these out! They are too fun!!!
If you have a smaller window like mine would you add two to one or use just one panel? I'm still trying to decide which i'd like better.
